Today, I heard in my spirit to post this reminder to all of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who may have forgotten the battle we have always faced...a battle as old as time. I'm reluctant, but I want to be obedient.
I am not the enemy. You are not the enemy.
Paul tells us, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12
So how do we wrestle this spiritual battle in a physical world? With the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the sword of the Spirit, the helmet of salvation, and a shield of faith.
Note, the breastplate of righteousness refers to the righteousness of the Father; whereas, our own self-righteousness is haughty and judgmental and says, "I am virtuous and you are not. I can judge you based on my morality. I have to be right, you have to be wrong." This mindset is not attractive and signals hypocrisy and criticism.
Christ's righteousness is a different standard of measurement than that of humans. It's found throughout His word. It embodies truth and love. It's transformative. It helps us to reflect Christ's true character which we have learned through relationship with Him.
Stay awake to the things only your spiritual eyes can see. Keep the true enemy in your sights and use the full armor of God to battle this out in the Spirit through prayer, fasting, and reading of the Word.
If we believe the Word of God, we are called to "keep the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace with lowliness and gentleness." Ephesians 4
Keep talking to the Creator. What is He speaking to you?
