Personal Truths vs Ultimate Truth

I know the world is over the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial, but one thing I learned from that trial was “Unless I heard it with my own ears, it’s here say.” And even then, I’m filtering through my life experiences and insecurities. Things can be twisted, misconstrued, and framed in any way that serves a person’s agenda.

We have a choice to perceive things around us as positive while giving others grace and the benefit of the doubt, or we can live miserable lives believing everyone is out to get us and hurt us. The latter is pretty egocentric.

However, this doesn’t mean we have to allow everyone access to our life and our heart. Boundaries are healthy. But how we filter what we hear can save us a world of heartache. We always have a choice. We can’t allow our personal truths to overtake the ultimate truth.

Our goal should be to be so emotionally and spiritually healthy that what others say about us or to us doesn’t move us except to push us closer to Jesus.

If you need healing in your heart, all you have to do is ask God to heal your heart today. If you need defending in this moment, He is your defense and strong tower. A fortress. He can make a way when there’s no way. Trust me. I’ve experienced it over and over. He’ll do the same for you.
